Catering for a Cause: A Night of Food, Community & Giving Back

Now in its third year, Catering for a Cause has quickly become one of Newmarket’s most heartwarming annual events. Hosted by A Million Mouthfuls Catering and proudly presented by Neighbour Media, the event was held at the historic Old Town Hall, fittingly, the original home of one of the evening’s featured charities. Guests were treated to an evening of delicious food, live music, raffle prizes, and meaningful community connection. Each ticket included one vote to support one of three community-nominated charities, with additional votes available for purchase. This year’s nominees were: the Newmarket Food Pantry, York Region Food Network, and the Newmarket Veterans Association.

Each organization gave a short presentation about their mission, highlighting the vital work they do in our community. The Newmarket Food Pantry, founded in 1986 in the basement of Old Town Hall, now supports over 25,000 visits per year and operates the Community Fridge near the Newmarket Public Library. Their mission is to eradicate hunger locally by encouraging donations and fostering community support. The York Region Food Network focuses on food security and education across the region. Through accessible, affordable markets and cooking programs, they empower people to eat well and live healthy lives. Lastly, the Newmarket Veterans Association is a nonprofit club supporting local cadets and service members. They host community events, music nights, and food markets, all while preserving and honoring the legacy of past and present veterans.

After an evening filled with great food, inspiring stories, and community spirit, the Newmarket Food Pantry won the most votes, but in a generous show of unity, they chose to share the proceeds with the other two nominees. NewRoads was proud to be part of this impactful evening, which not only celebrated food and fellowship but also supported three incredible local organizations. As our community continues to grow and diversify, events like Catering for a Cause remind us how powerful it can be when we come together for the greater good.
